Archeology

The more evidence archeology finds, the more it proves the Bible accurate. Never has there been an archeological discovery that counters what the Holy Scriptures say. Technically, archeology will never prove the Bible (or any other book) is always correct. However, it can give us confidence in scripture when the Bible is continually proven correct despite criticism.

King David

People used to argue King David was just a myth. The Bible was proved correct in 1993 with the uncovering of the Tel Dan.

The Edomites

While 2 Samuel 8:13,14 talks about King David and the Edomites, historians did not believe they existed until 2 centuries after King David. However, archeology has now confirmed their existence in King David's time.

The Hittites

While the bible refers to the Hittites 3 dozen times from Genesis 10:15,16 to Nehemiah 9:8, they were once thought a myth. Archeology has now confirmed their existence

King Sargon, the Assyrian

Isaiah 20:1 records King Sargon, but no mention of him was recorded in any non-biblical account. In 1843 excavations began that ultimately uncovered King Sargon's palace.

Nebo-Sarsekim

Scripture is proven correct yet again when in 2007 archeological evidence for a minor character mentioned in Jeremiah 39:3 named Nebo Sarsekim.

Jericho

Since its initial excavation, Jericho has been a controversial site for archeologists. Evidence is pointing towards the Jericho of the Bible. Finally, another source confirms that the Jericho of the Bible matches the Archeological evidence.

Cylinder of Nabonidus

Until the mid-1800s many people didn't believe King Belshazzar existed because Bible (i.e. Daniel 5:1) was the only place that mentioned him and the known king at that time was King Nabonidus (556-539BC). Then the Cylinder of Nabonidus was found confirming Daniel and the Bible was correct once again.

Merneptah Stele

This artifact was created during the reign of Merneptah , a son of Ramesses II. This Stele mentions Israel and defines them as nomads, a people without a country.

Pontius Pilate

For many years Bible skeptics did not believe Pontius Pilate was a real figure. Then in 1961 the Pilate Stone was discovered. This is the only universally accepted find that contains the name of Pontius Pilate.

Balaam

Mentioned in Numbers 22 - 24, Balaam was a seer who was hired to curse Israel. In 1967, proof of his existence was found at Deir Alla.
